Where do you go when you need an answer to a question? My response has changed through the years. As a child, I looked up information in our Encyclopedias or asked my parents, a teacher or other trusted adults. I never imagined being able to ask a question into a phone and an electronic information assistant like Alexa or Siri would provide an instant reply.

What do these changes mean for Extension? Extension continues to play an important role in providing answers. Many years ago, as a new Extension agent, someone asked me that question. My response, “I just go to work”. This answer hasn’t changed. Information from our organization was and continues to be research based. Do you always get accurate information from a random internet search? Don’t hope so, know so.
