December 4 – district horse scholarship requests due to me for individuals who participated in Southern Regionals and Nationals (showing and/or educational)
December 5 – District 4-H Horse Council meeting at Burlington Golden Corral at 7 p.m. – all are welcome!!
January 2 – Deadline to register for Youth horse bowl, hippology, judging clinic – registration is now OPEN and space is limited. Taking all experiences – Cloverbud to advanced.
January 2 – horse bowl questions due to EHH. Every county competing in the horse bowl contest must submit 40 questions in the correct format to Extension Horse Husbandry in order to be eligible to compete (more details to come from State soon).
January 13 – Youth Horse Judging, Horse Bowl, Hippology Training Clinic at NCSU
January 19 – North Central District 4-H Horse Bowl Contest entries postmarked (entry form coming soon)
January 20-21 – Tri State Leader’s Conference (our district will be offering some scholarship monies for this for our volunteers)
February 1 – 4-H Scholarship applications due to State 4-H office
February 2 – 4 – NC 4-H Volunteer Leaders Conference in Durham
February 10 – North Central District 4-H Horse Bowl Contest in Guilford County
March 1 – Qualifying Show Declaration due to Horse Husbandry
March 3 – State 4-H Horse Bowl Contest and Hippology Contest
April 7-12 – National 4-H Conference in MD
April 14 – State 4-H Horse Judging Contest at Martin Community College, Williamston
April 21-22 – Holiday Classic Spring Open Horse Show (district fundraiser for our program)
May 1 – Online deadline for state 4-H horse artistic expressions & postmark deadline for creative writing entries
May 6 – West Qualifying 4-H Horse Show at WNC Ag Center in Fletcher
May 5-6 – East Qualifying 4-H Horse Show in Wiliamston
May 18-20 – South Qualifying 4-H Horse Show in Monroe
May 19-20 – North Qualifying 4-H Horse Show in Raleigh (again sharing the facility with the Wake County Youth Horse Show)
**Again you will be able to declare which qualifying show you would like to show at but you may only choose one and declaration is due by March 1st)
June 10-15 – NC 4-H Horsemanship Camp
June 22 – North Central District 4-H Activity Day in Vance County
July 4 – 8 – State 4-H Horse Show in Raleigh
July 21 – State 4-H Horse Presentation & Public Speaking Contest
August 1 – 5 – Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships in Perry, GA
October 11 – 21 – NC State Fair
November 3 – Eastern National 4-H Horse Round Up – Louisville, KY
November 9 – State 4-H Horse Advisory Meeting
**The state plans to have some cloverbud opportunities at the State 4-H Hippology and Judging contests so please be on the lookout for that if you have interested cloverbuds!
