Surry County 4-H’Ers Attend State 4-H Congress and Bring Home Medals!

Surry County had four attendees for State 4-H Congress this year which included Sydney Tucker, Alyssa Johnson, Laken Williams, and Rebecca Cahall. This year’s 4-H Congress, held in Raleigh July 29-August 1, attracted more than 500 young people and their adult leaders for activities including presentations on a variety of subjects, leadership and citizenship training, service opportunities, officer elections and more. Through leadership workshops, the Hands to Service activity, and team building opportunities these youth gained skills and friendships that will last a lifetime.

PRESENTATION WINNERS

Rebecca Cahall, 15, daughter of Bonnie and Robert Cahall of Mt. Airy, won bronze in the 14-18 division of Forestry and Wildlife for her presentation on foxes. Laken Williams, 15, daughter of Cathy and Robert Williams of Lowgap, won silver in the 14-18 division of Family and Consumer Science for her presentation about how to pack a suitcase.
