Healthy Kids September 2017

The Healthy Kids 2017 campaign is designed to help you and your family stay healthy. We will be providing information and useful links that will focus on healthy eating habits and the importance of a physically active lifestyle. The information provided here comes from the United States Department of Agriculture’s website, ChooseMyPlate.gov. MyPlate is an easy-to-follow guide to eating nutritious, balanced meals. The colorful plate is divided into sections that include fruit, vegetables, protein, grains, and dairy.
For the month of September, we would like to focus on the importance of physical activity. Physical activity is important for children and adults of all ages. Being active as a family and choosing activities you enjoy can benefit everyone. Adults need 2 1/2 hours of a week of physical activity, and children need 60 minutes a day. Every little bit adds up, and doing something is better than doing nothing. Follow these 10 tips from the USDA Nutrition Education Series for becoming more active as a family and making physical activity a regular part of the day.
